Who Is Jesus - Is He Worth Looking For?

Jesus is worth looking for, but who is he?  He is the son of God, born in Bethlehem, a village in Israel, nearly 2000 years ago.

Where should we look for Jesus?  The Gospel or good news about Jesus is found in the word of God - the Bible.

Why is he worth looking for?  Because he brings hope for better things to come and a real purpose to our lives.  In fact millions of lives have been influenced by his way of life, his teaching, his death and his resurrection.  The Apostle Paul, who called himself the chief of sinners because of the way in which he had denied the Lord Jesus and persecuted his followers could say:

"Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners--of whom I am the worst."    (1 Timothy 1:15 - N.I.V.)

What chance have you of finding Jesus?  Every chance, because as you look you will find that Jesus is in fact looking for you.

If you read the Bible, you will learn that Jesus gave clear instructions to those who look for and find him - we can believe in him and trust in him, have faith in him.  The Apostle Paul again shows the way which is open to each of us - he writes:

"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus."     (Romans 3:23-24 - N.I.V.)

We read in the Bible that Christ died for our sins - isn't that a great sacrifice - we who, all these years further on, can benefit from what Jesus did over 1900 years ago.

We then have to obey his command to be baptised and acknowledge our sinfulness and from then on strive to lead better lives, helping others, putting aside greedy human nature, following the Lord Jesus' example and being thankful for his mercy and forgiveness.
