Jesus Is Alive and He is Coming Again
The Old Testament of the Bible contains many references to a time when the Lord Jesus Christ would be born into the world.
"The Lord himself shall give you a sign: Behold a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." (Isaiah ch. 7 v 14)
Very few people dispute the accuracy of the prophecies relating to Jesus' life and his cruel death at the hands of the Roman soldiers.
Jesus' death was not the end; after three days Jesus was raised to life again and the scriptures record that many were witnesses to his resurrection. The Apostle Paul writes:
"...Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: and that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: after that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time." (1 Corinthians 15 vv 3-8)
On several occasions before he died Jesus told his disciples that he would come back to the earth again.
"If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself: that where I am, they ye may be also." (John 14 v 3)
At his ascension to heaven an angel appeared and said to the watching disciples:
"Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come as ye have seen him go into heaven." (Acts 1 v 11)
So Bible prophecies speak about Jesus coming the first time and also speak about him coming again. His second coming will be very different to the first time; God has now given him all authority to overthrow those who oppose him and power to rule the world with righteousness and peace.
If we want to be ready for Jesus' return then we must take action now. It is no good waiting until he arrives because then it will be too late.
