How Can We Get Reliable Justice?

I am sure that you must have noticed how often these days there are reports in the media about some sort of miscarriage of justice.  It seems that almost every day we can hear or read about someone being freed from a prison sentence because there has been a mis-trial.  Evidence has been proved to be faulty, or even tampered with in a deliberate way to deceive those having to decide in the case.

It is frightening to think that our system of justice in the court-rooms and through the legal system can be faulted so easily and so often.  The consequence has been that some have been imprisoned for years, with all the mental torment that this has meant, only to be found not guilty of the original crime.

How wonderful you may think, to be able to live in a world under which the system of judgement could be proved to be faultless in these matters.  In other words to be able to live in a society where one would always know that true justice and judgement took place.

However the time is coming, when Jesus returns, when crime will be shown not to pay;  and there will be no such thing as getting away with anything that can be interpreted as wrong doing.

Consider this scripture passage which relates to the Lord Jesus when he is made ruler over God's kingdom on earth:

"The spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of council and might, the spirit of knowledge and fear of the LORD.  And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD:  and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears."    (Isaiah 11 vv 2-3)

Many times in the New Testament we read of Jesus finding fault with his enemies because through the Holy Spirit he was able to read their thoughts.

When Jesus comes again he will use these powers to execute unfailing justice, with the result that no one will be able to commit any evil thing and not be found out.  So wrong doing will be eradicated from amongst mankind, and then as the Old Testament prophet predicted.

"The work of righteousness shall be peace, and the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance for ever."   (Isaiah 32 v 17)

The Bible offers a wonderful hope of a world to come which will be altogether different so far as justice is concerned, and will benefit from a ruler who is absolutely just and righteous in all his ways, because they are the ways of God.
