Does Your Future Depend On Jesus
I'm sure that you will agree that life is full of surprises, some pleasant,
and some not so pleasant. There we are, planning out our lives, when
suddenly, unexpected things happen that take us completely by surprise.
It may be that we lose our job - a close friend or relative may be struck
down by disease - or there could be a pile-up on the motorway and suddenly
things are never the same again.
Yes, we can make our plans for the future, but we can never depend on them
being carried out.
We live in a world of constant change, but the Bible gives us a clear
message which does not and will not change; it is written by God who is
everlasting and constant in character. He does not change at all, nor does
any of His planning.
God has a certain future prepared and planned out for this world and Jesus
Christ is central to that plan. How then will Jesus affect your future?
Well, the Bible has this clear unmistakable message that Jesus is to return
to this earth, and that very shortly he will come as King and Judge over the
whole earth.
God inspired the apostle Paul to write in the Bible that Jesus Christ
".....will judge the living and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom"
(2 Timothy chapter verse 1 N.K.J.V.)
It's a big idea to get hold of, but the Bible plainly tells us that when
Jesus does come, He will be King and the Lord of all the earth. For God has
said in the Bible: "...that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow...and
that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord" (Philippians 2
vv 10-11, N.K.J.V.)
God has said that Jesus is to be your judge, so in the ultimate, your whole
future will depend on him, and on God's plans. It will also depend on your
present relationship with Jesus.
Jesus, your coming judge, is the one who laid down his life for his friends,
that is those who will be obedient to him now. Your future will depend on
Jesus Christ - why not get to know him now?
